We are excited to announce that REDAA's second grant call will open in May.
This funding round introduces larger-sized 'Programme Grants' of £1,000,000 - £1,500,000. Up to nine grants will be awarded to locally led partnerships of non-profit organisations, including non-governmental organisations and research institutions. This grant call will support initiatives in specific sub-regions and environments in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

REDAA recently published three scoping studies conducted by the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources Africa and ICLEI Africa. These studies propose potential priorities for the REDAA programme in West, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa.
To explore the findings REDAA also held an online workshop with experts from across the region. Insights from this workshop will be published in the coming weeks.
This work builds on previous scoping work for sub-Saharan Africa and will enrich the REDAA Strategy and upcoming grant calls.
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has been selected to carry out a distinct project on wetland ecosystem modelling and economic valuation in the Kalu Oya Basin, Sri Lanka. This follows a joint open call from The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ogata Research Institute and REDAA in July 2023.
The project, which runs for one year, will focus on better understanding and communicating the current and future value of ecosystem services in the Kalu Oya wetlands in a changing climate.
Following the successful Frontiers Symposium in January 2023, REDAA has been supporting The Royal Academy of Engineering to fund four projects using digital tools to help prevent and reverse environmental degradation in Africa and Asia.

We are pleased to announce REDAA’s first grant call is now open! This call focuses on ‘medium-sized’ Project Grants of between £200,000 and £500,000 (GBP) over two to four years. Projects are expected to start from 1 January 2024.
The deadline for applications is 31 July 2023, 23:59 British Summer Time (UTC+1).
One grant will be awarded for this project, which is distinct from the current REDAA grant call.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ogata Research Institute and REDAA are inviting applications to undertake a specific project to carry out wetland ecosystem modelling and economic valuation in the Kalu Oya Basin, Sri Lanka. REDAA will fund research-to-action initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia that are locally led and help both people and nature to thrive together. This work could be focused on improving evidence, using new tools or strengthening governance systems.
